Yarmouth Tips: Guanabara Bay
Ran a good race from a wide draw at Wolverhampton. Second faster closer but a comfortable 0.59s clear of the third best on the day.
Guanabara Bay might be an 11-race maiden but the 3.20 Yarmouth is a weak race and easier than most of his engagements this season.
Last time out at Wolverhampton he quickened well of a steady pace coming from last to finish second by a length. In defeat, he clocked the second fastest closing sectional (the winner Luang Prabang has run well again since) and he was 0.59s quicker than the third best closer. All of this achieved from the widest draw.
Guanabara Bay has recorded speed ratings good enough to win at this level and having run well on soft ground as a 2-year-old he strikes me as adaptable regards underfoot conditions. Jamie Spencer on board is another positive in a race where it’s hard to get excited about many of the other horses.
