Newcastle Tips: Top Offer
A 3-time winner in the grade and shaped nicely at Wolverhampton from an awkward draw.
The 8.15 Newcastle won’t live long in the memory but it’s a great opportunity for Top Offer to get his sixth career win.
The 8-year-old is a consistent sort at this level, finishing in the top-3 in 9/19 starts in class 6 company. Last time out he was a fast finishing fifth and could go even better off a 2lbs lower mark.
Top Offer was waited in rear and wasn’t favoured by the steady pace. Nevertheless, he made good progress and was the second fastest closer behind the winner. Coming down the home-straight he carried his head to one side, possibly struggling for racing room or reacting badly to the cheek-pieces which are dispensed with today.
Last time out I gave him an adjusted speed rating of 63, not a world beater but good enough to win off a mark of 61.
