Friday Quarter Finals World Cup Double

As we reach the business end of the tournament 4 heavyweights do battle in the opening quarter-finals. The goal forecast looks promising.

While all hell continues to break loose on England’s side of the draw, the top half has seen all the seeded sides advance, just about, in the shape of Brazil, Belgium, France and Uruguay.

Friday’s mouth-watering action kicks off with the latter two clashing and I would have fancied Uruguay at decent outsider prices had Cavani not got injured. Depending on which reports you choose to read he’ll either miss the game or play while nowhere near 100%.

That’s enough to make me think France wil advance and we can get an enhanced 25/1 on them and Brazil to win yet both concede with BetFair.

Les Bleus were scintillating going forward against Argentina but there should be some concerns that they conceded three times to opponents who were sub-par throughout the tournament. Uruguay are superior to their South American rivals and a rejuvenated Luis Suarez is just one man who could fire past Hugo Lloris.

In the evening I’m backing Brazil, as we have from the outset, although it might seem counter-intuitive to this bet to emphasise the quality of their defending again at this point. The favourites have kept 3 clean sheets in a row but this will be a different type of match to all those.

Belgium are the top scorers in Russia with 12 from 4 matches but equally they conceded twice to both Tunisia and Japan. The likes of Neymar and co will surely exploit that recklessness and this might be the stage where Roberto Martinez gets found out tactically.

We’re getting a huge price on two pretty likely outcomes combining so it’s too good to turn down.
